Product type

Wearing style

What the product should be used for, and how it should be used (e.g. ambient temperature).

Recommended usage

A headset is headphones combined with a microphone, or one headphone with a microphone. Headsets provide the equivalent functionality of a telephone handset but with hands-free operation. Types of headsets include single earpiece (monaural) and double earpiece.

Headset type

The colour e.g. red, blue, green, black, white.

Product colour

The specific functions assigned to the physical buttons on the device, such as volume control, play/pause, or power.

Operating keys

The mechanism used to adjust the audio output level (e.g., Rotary, Button, or Touch).

Volume control

Specifies the design and placement of the interface used to manage device settings, such as an in-line control unit integrated into the cable.

Control unit type

The way in which the device is controlled.

Control type

Indicates whether the device can be connected using Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) technology for wireless communication.

DECT connectable

The specific audio processing systems used to protect the user's hearing by limiting sudden loud noise peaks (e.g. Jabra PeakStop).

Hearing protection technologies

Specifies the geographical regions or countries where the product is approved or intended for sale and use (e.g. Australia, Belgium).

Suitable for use in country/location

Performance

The technology that enables connectivity of the device, e.g. wired or wireless.

Connectivity technology

The range of audio frequencies that the device can effectively reproduce when set to music mode, measured in Hz.

Frequency response (music mode)

The range of audio frequencies the device can effectively reproduce when configured for voice communication, measured in Hz.

Frequency response (talk mode)

The maximum distance over which the device can maintain a stable wireless connection, typically measured in metres.

Ports & interfaces

Ear coupling describes the way in which headphones or earphones stay attached to, or inside, the ear. There are three common types of ear coupling: circumaural, supra-aural and intra-aural. Circumaural headphones enclose your ears with large pads that suppress external noise. Supra-aural headphones are typically more lightweight and sit on top of the ears with small pads. Intra-aural headphones come in two basic designs and neither style sits on the head itself. The first are ear buds, which sit just outside of the ear canal, on top of your ear lobes. The second type is actually inserted directly into the ear canal and offers some external noise suppression.

Ear coupling

The range of frequencies (low to high sounds) that the headphones can produce.

Headphone frequency

Headphones

The characteristics of the microphone bulit into the device in terms of the reception of signals from all or just one direction, i.e. omnidirectional (better for concerts and the like vs unidirectional, more suitable for voice recording.

Microphone type

The range of frequencies (low to high sounds) that the microphone can pick up (detect).

Microphone frequency

The total quantity of integrated microphones built into the device.

Number of microphones

Indicates whether the product incorporates a miniature integrated microphone based on micro-electro-mechanical systems technology.

MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) microphone

Microphone

The available colour options for the charging or docking base (e.g. Anthracite or Aluminium).

Base station colour

Base station

Indicates whether the product is powered by batteries.

Battery operated

Description of battery supplied with the product, such battery form factor (e.g. AA/AAA).

Battery type

The type of battery in the device, e.g. nickel–cadmium (NiCd).

Battery technology

Indicates whether the battery is rechargeable.

Rechargeable battery

The total time a battery can power a device for calls. As the device drains the battery during a call, the talktime left in the battery is diminished until the device is turned off or the battery recharged. The longer the talktime the less frequently you will need to recharge. Talktime, expressed in hours and minutes, is much shorter than standby time because transmission requires more power.

Talk time

Approximate time required to recharge the battery from completely empty to completely full

Battery recharge time

Charging source

The maximum duration the device can remain powered on in a low-power mode before the battery is depleted, typically measured in hours or days.

Standby time

Battery

The minimum and maximum temperatures at which the product can be safely operated.

Operating temperature (T-T)

The minimum and maximum temperatures at which the product can be safely stored.

Storage temperature (T-T)

Weight of the product without packaging (net weight). If possible, the net weight is given including standard accessories and supplies. Please note that sometimes the manufacturer leaves out the weight of accessories and/or supplies.

Weight

Weight & dimensions

The distance from one side of the packaging to the other.

Package width

The distance from the front to the back of the packaging.

Package depth

The distance from the top to the bottom of the packaging.

Package height

Packaging data

Indicates whether a power supply unit for connecting the device to an AC outlet is provided in the package.

AC adapter included

Specifies the types and quantities of connection cables provided with the product (e.g., 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm or SATA).

Cables included

Indicates whether the product includes a dedicated base station for charging or connectivity.

Quantity

Packaging content

The length of time the manufacturer guarantees the product against defects, typically expressed in months or years.
