What this product is used as a part of (component for).

Component for

Category of lens e.g. tele, close-up, macro.

Lens type

The way in which a camera lens is constructed.

Lens structure (elements/groups)

The extent of the area visible to the sensor across the horizontal plane, typically expressed in degrees.

Lens viewing angle, horizontal

Aperture range of the device's optics, expressed in f-stops.

Aperture range (F-F)

The maximum vertical angle of view captured, measured in °.

Lens viewing angle, vertical

The maximum angular extent of the area visible, measured diagonally in °.

Lens viewing angle, diagonal

Measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light. For an optical system in air, it is the distance over which initially collimated rays are brought to a focus. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length; that is, it bends the rays more strongly, bringing them to a focus in a shorter distance. For an optical system in air, the effective focal length (f and f′) gives the distance from the front and rear principal planes (H and H′) to the corresponding focal points (F and F′).

Focal length range

The minimum size of the hole through which light enters a camera.

Minimum aperture number

The total count of overlapping blades in the lens aperture that control the amount of light reaching the sensor and influence the shape of the bokeh.

Number of diaphragm blades

The minimum distance from the device at which a subject can be brought into sharp focus, measured in m.

Closest focusing distance

The largest opening, expressed as an f-number, which determines the maximum amount of light that can pass through to the sensor.

Maximum aperture number

The distance between the lens and the image sensor, expressed as the equivalent focal length of a full-frame 35mm film format to provide a standardized comparison of the field of view.

Focal length (35mm film equivalent)

The physical size and shape of the image sensor for which the product is designed, such as Full frame or APS-C.

Image sensor format

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the rangefinder camera, single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge.

Lens mount interface

This camera function compensates for slight shaking movements caused by an unstable position and ensures smooth footage even in suboptimal conditions.

Image stabilizer

The number of exposure stops by which the image stabilization system reduces blur caused by camera shake.

Image stabilizer number of stops

Lens system

Indicates whether the device allows the user to manually adjust the focus.

Manual focus

The type of motor mechanism used to drive the autofocus system (e.g. STM, USM, or Linear Motor).

AF actuator

Magnfication means making things appear larger than they are e.g. 2x magnifaction means that something appears twice as big as it is in reality. The maximum magnification is the greatest magnification possible for the device.

Maximum magnification

Performance

The colour e.g. red, blue, green, black, white.

Product colour

Design

The measurement or extent of something from end to end.

Length

Weight of the product without packaging (net weight). If possible, the net weight is given including standard accessories and supplies. Please note that sometimes the manufacturer leaves out the weight of accessories and/or supplies.

Weight

Distance from one side of a body (circle or sphere) to the other side, measured by a straight line passing through the centre of the body.

Diameter

A filter is a screen, plate, or layer of a substance which absorbs light or other radiation or selectively absorbs some of its components e.g. a UV filter to reduce UV light. Filters come in various sizes.

Filter size

Weight & dimensions

The distance from one side of the packaging to the other.

Package width

The distance from the front to the back of the packaging.

Package depth

The distance from the top to the bottom of the packaging.

Package height
